George Zimmerman, Neighborhood Watch Captain Who Killed Trayvon Martin, Has VIOLENT History
According to the Huffington Post, the family of 17 year-old Trayvon Martin were lied to by police regarding to violent past of 28 year-old neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman.
Initially, the Martin family were told that Zimmerman had not been arrested for the shooting because his “squeaky clean” criminal record bolstered his claim that the shooting took place in self defense.
Not so, says family attorney Benjamin Crump. Zimmerman’s record is anything but squeaky clean; in 2005 Orange County police charged Zimmerman with resisting arrest with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer. These charges were later dropped.
Trayvon Martin, on the other hand, had no criminal record at all.
“In an interview with HuffPost on Thursday, Tracy Martin said that when he asked police why Zimmerman hadn’t been charged, officers told him ‘they respected [Zimmerman’s] background, that he studied criminal justice for four years and that he was squeaky clean.’ He continued: ‘My question to them was, did they run my child’s background check? They said yes. I asked them what they came up with, and they said nothing. So I asked if Zimmerman had a clean record, did that give him the right to shoot and kill an unarmed kid?’ Crump has asked law enforcement officials to turn over the 911 tapes recorded the night Martin was killed. He has since filed a public records lawsuit to get the recordings.”

As we told you last week, 17 year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed last month in his gated community by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman, who’d found him to be “suspicious.” Zimmerman has yet to be arrested or charged in relation to the shooting.
Why was this information withheld from the Martin family?
Why did the police take the word of a man with a violent criminal history?
And why hasn’t George Zimmerman been arrested?
