Who says emcees aren’t activists?

While many of us are keeping an eye out for the conclusion of the Jay Z-Belafonte beef, Nas used his profile to bring a little goodwill to a family down on their luck.

After seeing a story about a family who had lost their home to a fire, Nas took to Twitter to help them.

Over $29,000 was raised in less than a day!

“I was moved by the sad story of Stanley Young-father of 7 now homeless. Help me give his family a miracle,” [Nas] tweeted.

Stanley Young, an unemployed construction worker and single father of seven was left homeless after recently loosing his apartment to a fire. The eight-member family is currently staying in a hotel, which they will have to vacate next week.

Not only did Nas get the ball rolling on donating, he also prompted his millions of Twitter followers to donate as well. After raising over $10,000 in less than 12 hours he tweeted, “So proud of our community right now. The campaign just tilted and we raised over $10K in a few hours! Keep going!!!”
