During a presidential election cycle, it’s common practice for potential candidates on both sides to criticize the sitting head of state to show what they’d do differently. But this cycle in particular has brought out some non-stop claims by Republican candidates that question pretty much every move President Barack Obama has made in his presidency.

Well, Obama isn’t sitting quietly as he’s attacked on a daily basis. Recently, a video surfaced on C-SPAN of Obama taking some time out in a speech to hold an abbreviated roast session of the Republican Party as a whole.

“[Republicans] occupy a different reality it seems,” Obama said. “According to them, everything was really good in 2008 when were going through the worst economic crisis in our lifetimes. Unemployment and uninsured rates were up, we were hopelessly addicted to foreign oil, Bin Laden was still on the loose. This was apparently the golden age that I messed up.”

Obama specifically brought attention to how he’s being credited with sending the country into a worse economic position than it was before he came into office, although many reports say otherwise. He also touched on the constant fight against his healthcare reform and climate control.

“The planet’s warming,” Obama said. “99 percent of scientists have said it’s warming and we’ve got the republican Chairman of the Senate Energy and Environment Committee carrying a snowball into the Senate chambers to show that there’s still snow and that climate change isn’t happening. I am not making that up! That’s what happened!”

The crowd clearly loved the tangent and even participated with comments of their own such as “That’s crazy!” and “Preach!” To be honest, the whole thing started to resemble a stand-up routine at times as Obama took moments to soak in the laughter.

Now that Obama’s finish off his term, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him let loose a few more times while he has the platform to do so.
